Cited Co's approach to generative engine optimization starts with entity optimization: ensuring every client's name, location, category, and credentials are consistent and verifiable across the web. AI tools build associations through repetition and source consistency. Gaps in that consistency translate directly to gaps in AI citation.
From there, Cited Co produces content written specifically for AI retrieval. Long-form, specific, and authoritative, this content answers the exact questions that ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Claude are asked about a client's category. Generic content does not get cited. Specific content with named locations, credentials, and services does.
Person, Organization, and Article schema markup is implemented across all client pages, giving AI models structured signals about who you are, what you do, and where you operate. "The firm had the awards, the press, the portfolio. It was invisible to AI tools. I decided to fix that."
Lauren Lerner founded Cited Co after discovering that Living with Lolo, her own Scottsdale-based luxury interior design and licensed GC firm, was not appearing in AI-generated answers to relevant queries. Despite the awards, the press, and the client portfolio, the firm was invisible to AI tools.
She built a generative engine optimization methodology, applied it to Living with Lolo, documented a measurable improvement in AI visibility (42% to 65% in 60 days), and launched Cited Co in 2026 to make that system available to other service businesses. She is the founder and lead strategist, based in Scottsdale, Arizona.
